WELDER LEADER (PIPE EXPERT)

Summary You will serve as a WELDER LEADER (PIPE EXPERT) in the STRUCTURAL SHOP, PRODUCTION RESOURCES DEPARTMENT of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD. The incumbent of this position will serve as an Expert Welder leading a group to ensure work assignments are completed. This position is located in the Structural Shop (Shop 26). Responsibilities You will weld recently developed or experimental metals and alloys with welding properties that are not fully known, modify welding procedures, and recommend the most suitable metals and alloys for new or experimental applications. You will aid junior Pipe Welders to ensure the crew(s) obtain a higher and more efficient first time success rate of welding work performed in production. You will inspect completed and in process work for quality of workmanship and adherence to requirements, specifications, standards, plans and schedules.
