Overview

The NewZealand FairyTern (Taraiti) is NewZealand's rarest endemic breeding bird, with fewer than 45 birds left in the population. During the summer nesting season a team of nine temporary and four permanent Rangers works to enable the Taraiti to nest, breed and rear its chicks with minimal disturbance. The supervisor will lead this team throughout the season, ensuring successful conservation work while safeguarding staff well‑being.
