Shared Classroom Teacher Responsibilities

The shared classroom is where students arrive after being sent by a teacher from their home classroom or taken directly by the shared classroom teacher. They use this space to work on tasks, finish assignments, practice new skills, go beyond expectations or to calm down.

All agreements and rules for the shared classroom are displayed on one of the walls in both English and Spanish.

• Help students develop fine and gross motor skills (gross: yoga, dancing, warm‑up, circuits; fine: gripping, cutting, painting, coloring).
• Support social and emotional development.
• Implement an integrated curriculum that connects English, Math, Science, and Spanish through a shared project.
• Introduce new vocabulary for each lesson or unit.
• Use thinking routines in class and display them on the shared classroom wall.
