Senior Building Code Engineer

Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Plan Review Manager, this position contributes as a technical expert, ensuring success of the commercial building permit application review and approval process and by ensuring the appropriate engineering oversight is considered in the Departments’ application of the National Building and Energy Codes.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Supervises, plans, organizes and directs the activities of professional staff engaged in the commercial plan review program.
• Manages assigned engineering staff; hires, assigns work schedules, assesses staffing needs, makes recommendations as required to staffing adjustments, such as recruiting staff and overtime needed to meet established service levels, if necessary, and performs layoff and recall.
