PhD Research Fellow in Design and Analysis of Co-located Renewable Energy Devices

About The Position

A fixed‑term, 100 % PhD Research Fellow position in Civil and Structural Engineering is available at the University of Agder, Faculty of Engineering and Science. The position is affiliated with the Department of Engineering Sciences and will last for three years, starting 1 December 2026. It is located at Campus Grimstad.

Responsibilities

The fellow will work in the Civil Engineering section on the FAMOS project – a transnational EU Sustainable Blue Economy partnership focused on developing modular floating island concepts for offshore sites. Core duties include:

• Design and analysis of innovative co‑located floating renewable energy devices (e.g., floating wind and floating solar systems).
• Dynamic response analysis (hydrodynamic and aerodynamic) and structural integrity analysis using numerical methods and surrogate models.
