Duties and Responsibilities of the Nurse Practitioner

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) works collaboratively within the Acute Pain Service to provide advanced nursing care that optimizes patient outcomes and enhances safety, efficiency, effectiveness and accessibility to care for patients, reflecting the vision, mission and values of Unity Health Toronto. The Acute Pain Service NP promotes, facilitates and evaluates an interdisciplinary approach to acute pain management that is client-centered, based on the best available evidence and reflects best practice. The NP reports to the Senior Clinical Program Director with support from the Director of Nursing Practice and Education. The NP works with Nurse Leaders to support the implementation of key nursing professional practice initiatives (including the implementation of best practices) and the development of nursing staff and students.
