Nurse Practitioner, Cardiology

The Nurse Practitioner is a Registered Nurse with additional educational preparation and experience who possesses and demonstrates the competencies to autonomously diagnose, order and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe pharmaceuticals, and perform specific procedures within his/her legislated scope of practice. The NP role is derived from blending clinical diagnostic and therapeutic knowledge, skills and abilities within a nursing framework that emphasizes holism, health promotion and partnership with individuals and families, as well as communities. Nurse practitioners have the knowledge to assess population health trends and patterns and to design services that promote healthy living.
