Mechanical Engineer (Int/Sr.) (Calgary)

Responsibilities

• Design, load calculation, and technical specification for HVAC, piping, plumbing, fire protection, building automation (BAS), and natural gas systems for Institutional, Commercial, Healthcare, and Light Industrial building projects.
• Prepare contract documents and work with junior engineers, designers, and modelers.
• Serve a small to midsize team of engineers, developing clear, actionable career development plans and performing regular performance reviews.
• Review AutoCAD and Revit models.
• Provide thorough knowledge of heat loss/gain calculation, pipe sizing, sanitary and storm system design, natural gas pipe calculation, building automation system architecture, pre‑action sprinkler and clean agent fire suppression system design.
• Maintain complete understanding of building mechanical engineering requirements, National Building Code Alberta Edition (NBC-AE), ASHRAE, ASPE, NFPA, and CSA standards.
