Mammography Technologist I - PRN

Job Description Summary

Operate a mammography unit to produce diagnostic images of the breasts under direction of a physician. Explain the procedure to patients, position and immobilize the breast in the unit, and monitor the scanning process. Adjust density or contrast on the video display to improve picture quality. Review and evaluate the film or image recording to determine if images are satisfactory for diagnosis.

Responsibilities

• Keep track of patient records.
• Adjust imaging apparatus as necessary.
• Describe the procedure to patients and respond to any inquiries.
• Adhere to a doctor’s directions for images.
• Use x-ray protection equipment.
• Position patients appropriately.
• Operate machinery to provide diagnostic pictures.
• Perform picture retouching as necessary.
