Purpose of the Role
The Kitchen Porter is responsible for supporting the efficient operation of the kitchen by maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and organisation. The role is essential in ensuring that the kitchen operates smoothly by keeping equipment, utensils and work areas clean and assisting the catering team with general kitchen duties as required.
Key Responsibilities
- Wash and sanitise crockery, cutlery, pots, pans, utensils and kitchen equipment using commercial dishwashing equipment.
- Maintain a clean, tidy and hygienic kitchen environment at all times.
- Clean food preparation areas, work surfaces, floors, walls and storage areas in accordance with cleaning schedules.
- Empty bins and dispose of waste and recycling safely and efficiently.
- Assist with receiving, checking and storing deliveries.
- Support stock rotation using First In, First Out (FIFO) procedures.
