Intern - AI Software Engineering

ABS HET&DRC in St. John's, NL, is a branch of ABS Canada Inc. that conducts research and offers advisory services for ships operating in icy waters. We are looking for a Computer Science or Engineering student to help develop an AI‑based ice‑monitoring system for the Fall 2026 semester work‑term.

Responsibilities

• Conduct literature review on AI and Machine Learning based ice‑load prediction methods.
• Assist in the design and development of an AI‑based solver for ice‑load calculation.
• Assist in processing, visualising, and interpreting engineering datasets.
• Write optimized and efficient code in Python (C++ preferred).
• Assist in testing, validation, and benchmarking of AI models.
• Maintain organised project files, including datasets, code, and documentation.
