Intermediate Care Technician

Summary This position serves as an Intermediate Care Technician for the inpatient care setting such as ICU, step-down, medical, surgical, mental health, telemetry, and phlebotomy at the Iowa City VAMC. Responsibilities This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT. The initial cut-off date for referral of eligible applications will be July 20, 2026 and applicants will be referred on an 'as needed' basis. NOTE: This posting will remain open until no longer needed but no later than August 20, 2026. The Intermediate Care Technician is an occupational specialty, especially for former military combat medics, medical technicians, and corpsmen. A new VHA Policy (VHA Directive 1194) has published and those who do not meet the military medic/corpsmen or Paramedic educational background will not be authorized to administer medications to patients.
