Provide emergency healthcare treatment to animals. Diagnose and treat animals with illnesses and injuries, including dressing wounds, performing surgical operations, and prescribing appropriate medications and treatments. Operate medical equipment used in animal treatment, such as CT-scan and urinalysis. Write prescriptions for sick animals. Carry out research on animal diseases, such as preventions and treatment. Complete appropriate documentation and request referrals from other specialists as needed. Serve as a hospital leader in setting a pleasant, engaging, and professional work environment. Educate animal owners on animal behavior. Research how to protect humans from infection by animal diseases.
