This is a unique opportunity for prospective employees residing on POA to launch a career with BC Ferries as a Deckhand. Successful applicants will have their Transport Canada Marine Emergency Duties (MED) training—including STCW and Proficiency in Survival Craft—fully sponsored, with eligible expenses covered by BC Ferries. Upon successful completion of the required training, you will transition directly into a Deckhand role and begin your career with us.

Reporting to the Chief Officer / Mate, Deckhands are responsible for:

• Directing vehicle and foot passenger traffic on the vessel, and to and from shore to the vessel.
• Communicating in person and or by radio with ships’ officers and ticketing staff.
• Checking propane tanks are shut off, and tagged.
