Deckhand Role on Cortes Island

Become a critical part of BC Ferries as a Deckhand based on beautiful Cortes Island. This casual position focuses on vessel operations, safety, and customer service.
As a Deckhand, you will report directly to the Mate, ensuring safe and efficient operations on board the vessel. Key responsibilities include directing traffic, maintaining the vessel's interior and exterior, and performing emergency duties. You will also take part in safety drills and maintain a vigilant watch for hazards, ensuring passenger compliance throughout the journey.
Key Responsibilities:
• Direct vehicle and foot traffic between shore and vessel
• Communicate with officers and ticketing staff effectively
• Maintain and clean vessel interiors and exteriors
• Patrol for safety hazards and passenger compliance
• Participate in safety drills and emergency response
