Job Overview

Island Health’s Department of Cardiology seeks two full-time Cardiologists to join existing cardiologists, cardiac internists, and intensivists at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital. The role will help establish a Heart Health Division in Nanaimo as part of the 20-member Division of Cardiology in Victoria.

Responsibilities

• Provide acute cardiology consultation for hospitalists and other specialty groups.
• Interpret echocardiography (requires Canadian level 2 training or higher with currency), Holter, and ECG studies.
• Supervise nuclear perfusion imaging.
• Perform pericardiocentesis and DC cardioversions.
• Conduct rapid cardiac assessment clinics.
• Follow up with patients in a private office and fulfill routine administrative duties.
• Participate in cardiology division meetings and other relevant meetings.
• Adhere to a call schedule of 1:5–1:6.
